According to Politico, many in the Democratic party don’t think the 76-year-old Joe Biden is ready for the rigors of a modern presidential campaign, or even the demands of a party transformed.
Charles Chamberlain, Chairman of Democracy for America explained, “He’s been a corporate Democrat for years, and I think the Democratic Party… our party moving forward really has to be prepared to challenge the D.C. power structure.”
Not only will debates be key, but Politico questions whether Joe is built for the “confrontational phase of the campaign,” both taking on fellow Democrats and Trump.
Hours after Biden’s announcement to jump into the 2020 presidential race, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) questioned his past support of Wall Street.
Politico adds, “…While she and other Democratic contenders chided his high-dollar fundraising in appeals to their own small donor bases.”
But Biden’s ability to raise $6.3 million dollars in campaign funding in one day, may silence skeptics.
Politico says that it may signal that he’s got poll support behind him and that he may stand out on top.
