After Announcing Presidential Bid, Joe Biden Facing Increased Scrutiny

According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, former Vice President Joe Biden insisted that he did not treat law professor Anita Hill badly during confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas almost 30 years ago. Biden joined the crowded 2020 Democratic field one day before struggling to respond to questions regarding not only Hill, but also questions about his unwanted touching of women. Reuters reports that Biden’s conduct during the hearings in 1991 have become the renewed subject of controversy after the New York Times reported that when Biden called Hill, she said that she could not support his presidential bid and that she was dissatisfied with Biden’s expression of regret.
